I’ve worked with Derek on three separate home purchases, and every time, he has exceeded expectations. From start to finish, he treated me like a lifelong friend, making the entire loan process seamless and stress-free. What sets Derek apart is his unmatched communication. Early mornings, late evenings—it didn’t matter. He was always available, answering questions and keeping me updated every step of the way. His responsiveness and commitment made it easy to stay on top of everything, and because of that, we closed in under 23 days! I recommend Derek to family and friends without hesitation. My father, who lives in a completely different state, also worked with him and had the same outstanding experience. To this day, we still talk about how easy and efficient Derek made the process. Meanwhile, my brother chose a different lender and had a rough time—we remind him of that often! From getting our pre-approval, to finding a local agent, then searching for and buying a house, I mean this when I say nothing could have been any easier. After being turned away by another mortgage company, I requested information from Veterans United. I should have started here. The team immediately went to work and helped me in every way imaginable. Shelbi was wonderful. She maintained consistent communication throughout the whole process. It made the process seamless and I experienced little to no stress at all. That is not normally the case when purchasing a home so I appreciate her customer service. I had expressed this previously, but the agent who I worked with for home insurance was deplorable. I felt the person manipulated me and tried to swindle me into selecting a specific policy. I believe his name was Adam. He was not forthright with all information in order for me to make an informed decision. He was not a good customer service representative. If given an option to use that service again, I would not! His service reflects badly on the Veterans United team as a whole. If it had not been for the quality service of everyone else who I engaged with, I would never recommend Veterans United based on my experience with him.

Buying a property is stressful and intimidating, especially for someone buying out-of-state, but the WHOLE VU staff were phenomenal! Not one complaint from me!! From the initial contact, getting a pre-approval, realtor referral, all the way to closing- I was well-taken cared of, I felt spoiled! Communication was key and my VU team was always on top of everything! We had trouble selling our old place after having to move for work. We worried we would not be able to buy until our old place sold, but Alex and his team at VU worked to get us into a home we bought. After all the moves with the military and after separation, we were done with renting and moving. My team went far beyond anything I could or would have expected from home loan companies. Usually based on percentages and what best suits their businesses, these gentlemen were more about getting me the loan than how much I would put down or how long the loan was for. Those of course, are key factors, but they were not the main topic of the loan it was minor in the overall scope of my situation with my marriage and finances and debt ratios in reference to VA loan guidelines. Everything has particulars that have to be followed and these men ensured that nothing fell between the cracks to cause problems later. My husband and I needed to refinance our house to help us financially. We were referred to VU from my inlaws based on their experience we decided to call. Nichole and Mason have been amazing. We tried our original mortgage company since we were established with them. They denied us immediately (even though we have been with them for 9 years and never missed a payment) and they didn't even come back with a counter offer. Once we contacted VU the team really worked with us and helped us with ever step that needed to be taken. Every question was answered and our initial goal was exceeded.
