When I was reaching out to any lender to refinance my new VA loan, Matt contacted me immediately. After discussing the ins and outs and how I had to wait a period of time, Matt promised that he would call me back several months later. Guess what, he did. Once we started working together on refinancing my loan, it went by so fast. Matt kept in touch with me, texting and sending emails to make sure I was informed of everything that was being done. Edited: I am not going to remove this review. That was requested multiple times. When I called to speak to a manager initially the loan officer called me back and it was one of the only calls he made to me during the process. He proceeded to lecture me on his resume at the bank, his time there, and demanded I reach out to him, not his manager, in the future. When a client is upset management should get on the phone not direct it back without looking into a situation. I upgraded the stars to three because once the LO threatened to unrightfully cancel my loan the manager called me, but after I made a complaint to the federal oversight appropriate for this bank. Turns out they are not under the CFPB. You can look up why monetary entities fall under each division of oversight with the federal government. I believe all businesses in America need to get back to good customer care, we wont use this bank again. The second thing is the original notary was rude, this is from a contracted company. The last notary was wonderful and picked by the manager of the signing company (we canceled the day of the signing the first time and then signed later). To wrap up, once the manager called he was very professional and did get our loan done. We appreciate how things ended but I will not mislead others and begging to get a review removed is not really honest. How many others have removed reviews which allows this behavior to continue. Accountability should be the standard, I believe that if the bar was set internally of how to treat clients this would never happen in the first place. Clearly, there is an internal vibe for an employee to act this way. Or they don't care about their job. Either way, no one should have to fight for what is owed and to be treated with respect. Again, the manager, once he finally reached out, did a great job and we wish this bank the best. Below is the prior review: As a seasoned ex loan professional of over 30 years proceed with caution. We were mislead by Herb M. multiple times regarding dropping rates if the rates dropped and also regarding signing the final documents. We requested they be sent to us directly and they refused saying it cannot be done. However when we canceled our signing because the notary was booked late the day before and we had a full schedule they title company called saying they can, in fact, send us loan docs directly for our personal bank notary to do the signing. Then, when I asked about this saying we were mislead twice, the loan officer said they were going to cancel the loan. You cannot do this, its retaliation. They pulled credit and we were approved and there are zero underwriting issues. Literally, we said we want to give it a day and they now are going to "part ways" because we want to think the loan over. We have made a CFPB complaint. I am not sure how they have a rating so high but buyer beware. This is narcissistic behavior. Its horrendous customer care. Also, when I left a message for a manager they refused to call and sent me back to the loan officer. If you know what you are doing shop around.

I shopped around for who could give us the best mortgage in what is a tough time to buy a home. NBKC had the most competitive rates and lower closing costs than other lenders I had spoken with. What sealed the deal was Basil Benyo being an absolute home-run hitter and just a nice person to deal with. He was always available to answer any questions and explain things to whatever level of detail I needed (having only bought a home once before). Mark and his assistant Charlotte were easy to work with. Start to finish took about a month. I am self-employed, which sometimes makes getting mortgages a bit more complicated--but they were able to answer my questions quickly and determined that I would be able to qualify for their requirements. They worked well with my email communication preferences and I was able to reach them by phone when necessary. Side note: Does anyone just love that when you've been paying a mortgage regularly for over a year and you're looking to refinance with a lower payment you can get rejected because you seem like a risk that won't pay? Wild, but I suppose it's the game we play.
